Key Challenges & Project Details
- Construction of waterfront park linking the Washington Nationals’ baseball park to the Anacostia River
- Project start up in February 2009, requiring 10 to 12 hour work shifts, 6 days a week until completion
- Construction of pier, docks, boardwalks and park
- Construction of 30’ wide by 374’ long decorative boardwalk, consisting of a timber and metal deck on a structural steel frame
- Installation of concrete grade beams and 58 14-inch pre-stressed concrete piles to support boardwalk
- Construction of bridge connecting to existing historic pump house
- Construction of aluminum gangways, attaching the main floating piers to the shoreline
- Installation of decorative handrails, bridge decking, fire water lines, and floating plant islands
